May Theme Challenge Reminder

Hi there!

Anita and Kymona are sharing some inspiration today for our Mai Theme Challenge.

Anita created this great art journal page. She used acrylic paint, stamps on the background and a kind of patchwork with stitching.
You'll find all the stamps she used at the end of this post.

Kymona made three beautiful ATCs with the Face Up and the Artfully Stamped stamp sets.

Thank you Anita and Kymona for these awesome beauties!!!

Mixed Media Tags by Susanne

Hi there!

Susanne writing today and I'm sharing some mixed media tags today.

My focal points are the beautiful Butterfly Girls. I started with a water colour background. I added a thin layer of gesso in the middle are and some background stamping for more interest. Before I added the Butterfly Girls (that are stamped on gelli printed deli paper), I added some patterned paper which was die cut with the Tim Holtz Mixed Media dies.
To finish it up I added some black dripping paint and white splatters. The sentiment is printed with the computer. I framed every tag with my sewing machine.

I created similar tags a while ago, where I used the same technique. You'll find it here.

Thanks for stopping by today!
xx Susanne

A Card Full Of Carrots

Hello.  Welcome.  Gail from the design team here with some more bunny fun.  I am just in love with this cute Bonny Bunny and decided he deserved carrots.  Lots of carrots!!

I started by stamping and masking the bunny and cutting some masks for the large carrot.

Here I have stamped some of the carrots and you can see the masks in place on some of them.  I have used Mowed Lawn and Spiced Marmalade distress inks to stamp the carrots.

All carrots present and correct.

I removed the masks and started colouring the carrots with Spiced Marmalade distress and my waterbrush.

Then I coloured the greenery.  I used Stormy Sky distress ink for the bunny.  I filled in any white gaps with green or orange, whichever seemed most appropriate.

I stamped the sentiment from Something Wonderful, but I changed crayons to carrots!!  I was only missing the 't', which I drew in, trying to match the font of the other letters.  Then I stamped the happy birthday from Beautiful WordsTo finish I added a green mat and used the orange ink to tint my hammered texture card base.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you have time to join the current

A handy thing!

Hello everyone, Debs with you today to share a card I made. Well! We all need to keep our card stash full don't we, you just never know when you might need one. This is a quick card to make, so why not make a few. Here's how I did it.

Here's what you need.

Rubber Dance - Butterfly Trio
Paper Artsy - Fresco Acrylic Paint
Ranger - Distress Oxide, Distress Crayons, Black Archival Ink, large Chitchat stickers.
Stabilo All Black
Signo White Gell Pen

Step 1-using 3 colours of acrylic paint roughly add to a 4x6 plain white card. You can cover the card, but I like to leave some white. You will lose most of it anyway but it will give interest and depth to your card.

Step 2-  using the oxides with a blending tool I added some colour in several patches. I dried the ink, then gently spritzed the card with water, dried it and repeat. Do this as many times you like, but be careful not to soak your card too much.

Step 3 - add some contrasting colours with the Distress Crayons, blending here and there. I love how the crayons smooch around and still let colours from the beneath layer show through. Choose your transparent colours carefully as if you mix your primary's together in any combination, you will make brown.

Step 4- I love to add some script, or numbers to background as on this card, any kind of repetition stamping will work. I actually made a mistake on this card but instead of changing or correcting it, I decided to go with it. Therefore I stamped the numbers upside down as well as the right way up. I liked how it came out so kept it.

Step 5 - my feature is the lovely Trio of Butterflies which you can see above. I stamped straight onto the card, heat set it and coloured with Distress Crayons. I added little water soluble black pencil around the edge to help it pop out from the background. I added the sentiment, and that was all there was to it. I hope you enjoyed reading the post!

Take care
Hugs xxx
